Selecting a barrier gate for your facility depends on many factors, and the most important of all is to decide the application – commercial or residential or industrial. Residential units usually require a moderate number of opening and closing cycles per day and are only busy during the peak hours in the morning and evenings.
FAAC usually categorises its boom barriers in terms of application, commercial or industrial barriers warrants 100% duty cycle and residential needs up to 70% duty cycles.

Control functions
Most boom barriers offered by FAAC come with remote controller/receiver proximity reading or push-button operation, or biometrics integration. Operating temperature and IP rating
Most of the barriers from FAAC have safe temperatures range from sub zero to 51 degree celsius. Making sure you choose the right barrier for the local climate and operational environment is important. IP rating (Ingress Protection) or International Protection ratings used to define the levels of safety of electrical enclosures against intrusion from foreign bodies such as dirt and moisture. Most of the barriers and gates have IP54, IP56, or IP57 protection ratings.

Opening and closing speed
Most conventional barrier gates provide running speed from <1.5 seconds to 6 seconds. Speed faster than 1.5 seconds belongs to a fast speed gate. From 2 seconds to 4 seconds speed is the medium speed gate. Speed more than 4 seconds slow gates.

Safety features

FAAC B680H
The FAAC B680H is a hybrid barrier powered with a hydraulic pump and is suitable for industrial heavy-duty usage. The barrier also comes with an optional battery back up ensuring continuous operation even during a power loss.
FAAC B680H and B614 – What are the major differences?
Both B680H and B614 barriers are high-performance boom barriers offering easy installation and enable the integration of accessories for RFID reading or automatic vehicle detection and other accessories.
The major difference between these barriers is that – B680H is an automatic hydraulic motor operated unit while B614 is operated with a 24V electromechanical motor. The 680H hydraulic barrier is heavy duty and can lift barrier beams of up to 8m, which makes it an ideal solution for industrial sites and high-security areas. The B614 lifts beam up to 5m.
The B680H hybrid hydraulic barrier comes with an everlasting spring that offers two million cycles while B614 is designed to offer up to one million operating cycles. According to FAAC, B680H is around 20 to 30 per cent costlier than B614 barrier.
